Angelo Dragone called for fight with Kristian Touze for the Welsh Area super-featherweight title
Carmarthen’s Angelo Dragone (5-0) called for the fight Swansea’s Kristian Touze (8-0-2) straight after his last victory against debutant Ilias Liokaftos at the end of June and immediately got his wish.
The unbeaten pair will contest the vacant Welsh super-featherweight title fight on the Sanigar Events’ show at the LC2 in Swansea.
The teams of both West Walian 135-pounders will clash live on Welsh freeview channel S4C on Friday, September 13.
The 29-year-old 'Italian Stallion' Dragone was straight down to business in his last bout on June 29 at the Rhydycar Leisure Centre in Merthyr Tydfil, as he relentlessly tracked down Greek debutant Liokaftos from the opening bell, eventually earning a 60-54 decision win.
Once Dragone’s forward momentum was established, the unbeaten boxer visibly grew in confidence during every exchange. He was a man on a mission and Liokaftos was in full reverse to avoid danger.
His next opponent, Touze, who represents a huge step up in levels for Dragone, boxed on the same bill against Nicaragua’s Edwin Tellez (12-51-5) and safely navigated his way to a 59-55 decision win.
The southpaw stayed away from danger, darting in with quick flurries before darting backwards to the edges of the ring. Touze was busier and Telez was being outworked, though most of Touze’s blows landed on the gloves and Tellez continued to press on forward.
Now the unbeaten Welsh warriors will clash, live on S4C, just a couple of weeks into the start of the boxing season.
