The WBC pay tribute to boxer Oleg Prudkyi who died in the Ukraine war
Oleg Prudkyi, a two-time amateur boxing champion from Ukraine, died in the war between his country and Russia. This was confirmed by Cherkasy police, who revealed that Prudky was one of four officers killed in an attack last week.
“On May 22, defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, our colleagues, police officers from the Special Operations Department of the National Police Department, were killed,” the statement said.
30-year-old Prudky, who represented Ukraine at multiple world tournaments, leaves behind a wife and two daughters.
The World Boxing Council and its President Mauricio Sulaimán deeply mourn this loss and once again join millions of voices to demand peace in the region.
The WBC prays for the people of Ukraine, as well as the people of Russia and for immediate reconciliation to end this war.
May God give us the guidance we need to restore peace and unity to all people so that these type of tragedies cease.
