September 29 slated for return of former Team GB prospect Alfie Price
Unbeaten super-lightweight prospect Alfie Price (2-0) landed another fight date on September 29 at the York Hall, Bethnal Green on the undercard of Elliott Matthews' (21-0-1) Commonwealth middleweight title shot, set to be televised by FreeSports.
The British Warriors Boxing event also features Louis Greene (9-0) in the second defence of his Southern Area welterweight title against unbeaten challenger Chris Kongo (9-0).
24-year-old southpaw Price was last in action on June 30 at the same venue when part of another stacked British Warriors Boxing event, ‘The Big Bang’, alongside eight other unbeaten prospects, headlined by the aforementioned Kongo.
The European bronze medallist from Hoddesdon defeated Newark’s Fonz Alexander (5-84) on points over four-rounds in his second bout in the paid ranks.
Prior to that, the three-time Golden Gloves winner breezed through the durable Liam Richards (12-45) at the Camden Centre in London in March to kick off his pro career.
The 24-year-old former Team GB boxer has an outstanding amateur education to rely upon, winning 85 fights from 100 bouts and collecting dozens of titles, including a European bronze medal.
His next fight will be his third appearance in only six months.
Matthews vs Abolaji
Unbeaten former English middleweight champion Elliott Matthews (21-0-1) has landed himself a major domestic title opportunity in the form of the vacant Commonwealth middleweight strap against Nigerian Rasheed Abolaji (11-4-1), a former challenger for the title in April last year against then holder, Sam Sheedy.
The news has gone down well with former titleholder Liam Cameron, who was under investigation for a substance failure following his successful title defence against Nick Jenman earlier this year and subsequently stripped of the silverware.
Matthews, an elder statesman at the age of 38, picked up the English crown in December last year against Grant Dennis to add to his Southern Area crown he won in his 10th professional fight back in 2013.
'Afonjo Warrior' Abolaji, 27 from Lagos, is a two-time West African middleweight champion and former Nigerian national champion.
Undercard
Someone's '0' has got to go when unbeaten welterweights Louis 'The Medway Mauler' Greene and Chris '2Slick' Kongo clash for Greene's Southern Area strap on the undercard, both boxers unbeaten in nine bouts each.
Unbeaten welterweight Jez Smith (10-0-1), 24 from Harrow Weald, who always entertains in fights, is matched with County Durham southpaw Anthony 'Hitman' Hardy (10-2) over eight rounds.
Wimbledon's Louis Adolphe (8-1) takes part in another six-rounder as he rebuilds following his disqualification loss to Nathan McIntosh (13-2) last year.
Unbeaten middleweights Denzel Bentley (5-0) and Sean Phillips (3-0-1) both look to extend their winning records in their respective six-rounders.
Welterweights Dan Morley (2-0) and Alec Bishop (1-0) both take part in four-rounders against opponents yet to be confirmed.
Featherweight Fuaad Husseen (3-0), 24 from Hayes, goes up against Islington's Jules Phillips (2-20) over four three-minute rounds.
Taran 'Mr.T' Willett (2-0), 26 from London, looks to make it a hat trick of wins against 'The Grenadier' Lee Carter (1-4) at the heavyweight limit.
Super-middleweight southpaw Mitchell Preedy (3-1) gets straight back in the ring to rebuild following his loss last June to Ashley Bailey Dumetz (2-5). The 24-year-old from Hayes, Middlesex will take part in a four-rounder against an opponent yet to be confirmed.
There's a whole host of debutants kicking off their careers on the show – cruiserweight Wajid Khan; super-middleweights Louie Lye and Conor Hinds; super-welterweights Alfie McArthur and Peter Mallon; and heavyweight Osamuede Omoregie, who has chosen to make a statement by facing former Southern Area champion Larry Olubamiwo (11-19) in his induction to the pro ranks.
