Grant Cunningham in British Masters bid
Cannock will play host to professional boxing thanks to EJKO Promotions’ bumper show – ‘The Chase’.
The Chase Leisure Centre will host EJKO’s show on Saturday, 4th October as pro boxing makes a welcome return to the area.
Stafford’s undefeated super middleweight, Grant Cunningham, tops the bill as he goes in search of his first title.
The 30 year-old will be looking to record a tenth straight win, and pick up a British Bronze Masters Super Middleweight title when he takes on teak-tough Telford scrapper, Kieron Gray.
A quartet of Stoke fighters are also on the bill. It’s a family affair for the McLaren’s as cousins Josh and Kieran both feature.
The pair fought together as amateurs but now, with Keiran turning professional, the pair will be boxing professionally together for the first time. Frank Warren signed Josh has won his opening four contests at welterweight whilst Kieran will debut at light welterweight. Lightweight Andy Keates will be looking to build on his British Silver Masters Title victory over Danny Carter earlier this year and super middleweight Mark Till completes the Stoke connection. Completing the card is Chester light welterweight, Nathan Clarke.
“We’re really pleased to be putting on a show in Cannock,” Promoter Errol Johnson told www.uko-boxing.com. “It’s been a while since professional boxing has taken place in the area and we’re going to give them a show to remember. We’ve got a great top of the bill encounter. Grant is a good prospect and Kieron is a real warrior so it will be a good fight.
“We’ve got a solid undercard too, so I’m looking forward to it.”
The show takes place at Chase Leisure Centre, Stafford Road, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS11 4AL.
Tickets, priced at £30 and £50 Ringside, are available by calling 07891 263 167.
