Tyson Fury issued a simple promise to the world of boxing as he prepares to make his return to the heavyweight scene in Manchester on June 9.
The long-awaited comeback of the lineal world champion will be screened live on BT Sport and Fury (25-0-KO18) was in typically convivial mood in front of a media scrum at London’s BT Tower on Tuesday.
Fury said: “My promise to the world of boxing is that I will reign supreme once again. When I do, you’ll ask how I did it but not only am I going to do it; I’m going to make it look easy.
“They say once you have it, you never lose it, and I have it in abundance. A little bit of puppy fat never hurt anybody. I hear some people even like it!
“I had a bit of weight to lose. It was fun and games getting it off and even more fun putting it on. I aim to keep it off for a while – at least until a week after the fight.
“Even at 27 stone, the sharpness was always there. Now the weight has come off and I look good. Don’t I look GOOD?!
“For some people, going into a boxing ring is like facing the guillotine. My whole life is based around how much I’m going to enjoy it and what games I’m going to play in there.
“I feel better today than I did when I fought Wladimir Klitschko. Now I’ve found what I was searching for inside myself, you’re going to see a better Fury. A vintage Fury.”
