Light-heavyweight prospect Mickey Ellison dropped to 2-1 on his record at the hands of former Central Area champion Carl ‘Born 2 B’ Wild (15-26-5) on April 21st at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester on a VIP Promotions show.
It was a frantic first round with both fighters trying to establish their dominance. Ellison’s uppercuts were the most successful shots fired and landed in abundance.
The high work rate set from the start looked to have taken its toll early on for the 26-year-old home fighter from Darwen.
The travelling fighter looked busier in the second round and piled the pressure on Ellison.
Wild came flying out of the traps in the third segment. Ellison covered up and rallied back in the second half but it was all too little, too late.
Wild piled the pressure on again in the final round and never allowed Ellison a moment’s rest. He dictated the pace and boxed clever to step in close to Ellison and outwork his opponent to grab the win on the road, scored at 37-40 by referee Jamie Kirkpatrick.
It was a case of too much, too soon for Ellison, a former North West amateur champion. Wild is an experienced ex-Area champion that has been involved in four 10-round Area title fights already in his 10-and-a-half-year professional career and has previously shared the ring with Commonwealth super-middleweight champion Luke Blackledge and World cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli.
