Former British and Commonwealth super-featherweight champion Liam Walsh (21-1, 14KOs) is ready to remind everyone exactly what he is capable of when he makes his long-awaited return on #MTKFightNight’s packed event at the Brentwood Centre live on iFL TV this evening.
The world title contender from Norfolk has his first fight in two years when he takes on experienced Reynaldo Cajina (14-60-5, 10KOs), and he’s promising a dominant display.
The Nicaraguan, nicknamed 'Flaco', has recently taken Olympic silver medallist John Joe Nevin (12-0) the eight-round distance, as well as Frank Warren prospect Archie Sharp (15-0) and British champions Martin J Ward (21-1-2) and Josh Wale (27-11-2).
Both Liam and twin brother Ryan, the current British featherweight champion, signed with MTK Global earlier this year and are each in action in May and June respectively. Ryan defends his Lonsdale belt, which he owns outright, to unbeaten Lewis Paulin (12-0) at the end of June at the York Hall.
Southpaw Liam said: “I’m fresh and rejuvenated and that excites me. I think I’m going to fight more aggressive too because I’m a risk taker in life in general, and I never like to play it cautious.
“It’s going to be more entertaining for the fans and the response from them has been immense. I’ve had a lot of messages from people who are buzzing that I’ve signed with MTK Global, and that’s really nice and humbling.
“My mentality over the year has been that I’ve always got my back to the wall, but it’s hard to have that mentality due to the amount of support I’ve had, and I’m buzzing to be fighting again.
“I hope I can reward the fans by performing to the best of my ability so they have a good night and enjoy themselves. I’m more than confident that I’ve got some big nights left in me.”
Walsh is part of a stacked #MTKFightNight event at the Brentwood Centre this evening, and there are plenty of other exciting stars on the card, including Danny Dignum, Shaquille Day, Liam Conroy, Gino Kanters, Harlem Eubank and many more.
