Welshman Kieran Gething bags first professional title
Kieran Gething (7-2-1) claimed the vacant Welsh Area super-lightweight title in Newport, Wales with a hard-fought points win over Henry Janes (12-24-3), scored at 99-92 by referee Reece Carter.
The 24-year-old dropped down to 140-pounds after previously competing at welterweight (147lbs), and revealed the suprising new methods he adopted for the change, reverting to a vegan diet for the first time in his life.
Gething, the boxer from Abergavenny, said in the post-fight interview that he was happy with the win but not happy with the performance.
Gething will be straight back to the ring on March 1 at the Vale Sports Arena on an MTK Global show.
Ted Cheeseman suffered a maiden career defeat on the same night and Philip Bowes also bagged his first ever title, just like Gething.
