Kevin Satchell to challenge for European title
Flyweight champion Kevin Satchell has landed a challenge at the European title.
The 25-year-old Liverpudlian has been out of action since March after defending his Commonwealth strap against Isaac Quaye.
Also holding the domestic bauble, ‘Satch’ was ordered to rematch former foe Iain Butcher for the titles but an ankle injury ruled him out.
It was announced today that promoter Frank Warren won the purse bids to stage the contest against Belarusian champion Valery Yanchy.
Prior to today’s news, a clash with WBA world champion Juan Carlos Reveco was on his team’s agenda but talks broke down earlier in the year.
Since the ankle injury, Neil Marsh, Satchell’s manager, has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to secure his charge the mandatory position for the EBU crown.
