Jordan Gill flawless as he wins Commonwealth featherweight title
Jordan Gill (22-0) boxed superbly to rip the Commonwealth featherweight title away from Ryan Doyle (17-3-1) at the Copper Box Arena.
'The Thrill', 24 from Chatteris, dominated the fight before claiming a seventh-round stoppage to win the first title of his career.
Gill seized control of the contest early on with a swift, sharp jab, bouncing in and out of range with quick feet to catch 'Ruthless' with some slick combinations.
Trained by David Coldwell, Gill decked Doyle in the sixth when a short left uppercut pierced through the guard, accompanied by stunning shots to the body, but 'Ruthless' fought on to hear the bell.
In the seventh, Gill relentlessly went on the assault and unloaded a barrage of unanswered shots as the champion wilted on the ropes, forcing referee Victor Loughlin to jump in and call a halt to the contest.
