Little-known Johnny Coyle reveals he is hungry for titles and not fame

Unbeaten super-lightweight Johnny Coyle is ready to seize his chance to force recognition when he takes on Lewis Benson on the undercard of Michael Conlan’s homecoming in Belfast on June 30.
Coyle (18-0-1-KO2) is a former Prizefighter and WBC world youth champion and believes his skills will prove far too much for Scotland’s Benson, who at 10-0 is also bringing an impressive unbeaten record to the table.

> The pair have traded jibes over social media but the understated Coyle is simplistic enough in his goals – titles and financial security.
Coyle said: “I’m really not fussed if I’m on TV. I just want to win the titles and earn some money so I can go full-time. I want the British title. I want what I work for. The fame is nothing to me. I just want a few belts around my waist.
“People have never taken much notice but I’m unbeaten in all 19 of my fights. Nobody’s really given me a shot and fighting Benson is my chance to change that and push on after my victory.
“I know my own capabilities. It’s now just a case of showcasing them. I feel I’m ready to take on anyone in Britain in my weight division.
“He can say what he wants. He says we’re both boxers. It’s a different story when you get in the ring. We can all talk the talk but can you walk the walk?
“I haven’t even been studying him. I don’t know the kid. I’ve watched a couple of his videos and that’s it. He’s just a standard decent lad and there’s nothing special about him. I’m a few levels above. If I can’t beat him then I’m going nowhere.”
Coyle beat the likes of Sam Eggington and Paddy Gallagher on his way to Prizefighter glory at York Hall in 2014.
