History-making Ashley Brace gets European title shot
Unbeaten WBC International Female bantamweight champion Ashley Brace (7-0) will challenge for the vacant European bantamweight belt on Friday 15th December.
The 26-year-old Welsh national will face Spainard Melania Sorroche (13-2-1) in an event promoted by Jamie Sanigar.
The 27-year-old Catalan will travel to Merthyr Leisure Centre in Merthyr Tidfil to contest the vacant strap.
'Chony' is the no.1 bantamweight in her native country but has not won either of her only two championship contests for the WBA world and the IBF Inter-Continental straps, respectively.
Hard-hitting Ashley 'The Storm' Brace, who trains at St Joseph's gym in Newport, has never lost a round in her professional career. She made history in her sixth contest in April this year when she became the first female boxer from Wales to ever win a professional title – the WBC International.
The Ebbw Vale resident is on a collision course with double-Olympic champion Nicola Adams, but only after winning a world title first, according to Brace. And presuming she gets through the no.1 Spaniard at 117lbs first.
The European Championship Circular announced:
