Undercard Highlights
Nathaniel Collins (11-0, 5KO) defends his Commonwealth featherweight title for a second time to newest challenger, unbeaten Welsh Area champion Jacob Robinson (9-0, 2KO). If the 'Nightmare' from Bearsden can retain his title successfully then he will be thrust into a British title showdown with Nick Ball next.
Background
Hannah Rankin became a two-time world champion against veteran Maria Lindberg on an explosive Guy Fawkes Night last year.
Hannah – who doubles up as a professional musician – is recognised as one of the UK, and the world’s, best super welterweights and has been in with the globe’s best fighters and come away with plenty of plaudits each time. In 2018, Rankin gave history-making Michiganian Claressa Shields 10 hard rounds in an away-from-home loss in the States; while last year she pushed big-hitting boxing sensation Savannah Marshall all the way before succumbing to defeat inside seven.
Ayala, 33 from Tijuana, represents a tough first defence for Rankin. She is the No.1 super-welterweight in Mexico and has won her last two fights. The hard-hitting Mexican has knocked out eight of her 14 victims, so will be a dangerous opponent for Rankin. She has also been stopped by Marshall, but that's the only stoppage defeat in her career, so Rankin will need to be ready to go the distance.
Predictions
Tim Rickson,BBN Editor: “The only person ever to stop Ayala was Savannah Marshall, who has stopped 10 from 12 foes. So, although I believe Rankin wins this championship clash, I don't think she will stop the Mexican, so I expect this to be a wide points win to the Scot.”
