Celtic super-featherweight title contender Monty Ogilvie spoke exclusively to BBN ahead of his first ever professional title fight on October 5 in his Paisley stomping ground.

Favourite fight? “Probably Jose Luis Castillo vs Diego Corrales [May 7, 2005 at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas] or Miguel Cotto vs Ricardo Torres [September 24, 2005 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey].”

Boxing clubs? “Stirling ABC; 1314 Boxing Club; Sparta Boxing Club; Kilsyth Golden Gloves.”

Amateur honours? “Eastern District champion; Scottish University champion; British University champion. Also had a couple of international bouts.”

Biggest achievement in boxing? “It would be turning my amateur record around after losing my first 10 fights.”

Next fight? "My next fight is my first title fight in October 5 at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley for the vacant Celtic super-featherweight championship against unbeaten Nathaniel Collins (5-0).”   

What fight do you want to see happen this year? "Would love to see Vasyl Lomachenko vs Manny Pacquiao, although it will never happen.”

If you could fight anyone, past or present, who would it be? “ He would chin me but it would gave to be Arturo Gatti.”

What is the best division to watch in boxing and why? "Welterweight. Always the best fighters in that division.”

What is most important to you in your career between money and glory?  "Glory."

Where do you want to be in your career in exactly one year’s time from now?  "Celtic champion.”

Tell us something that not many people know about you? "I lost my first 10 fights as a boxer.”
