Undefeated Ekow Eussuman headlines in Nottingham against Andy Keates
Big time boxing returns to Nottingham
Scott Calow Promotions in association with JE Promotions are bringing championship boxing back to Nottingham for the first time since the days of Carl Froch.
The co-promotion presents a stacked card filled with prospects, local boxing heroes and an English title fight as the headliner.
The vacant English welterweight championship will be contested between Ekow Eussuman (8-0) and Andy Keates (13-7-2).
Botswana-born Nottingham resident Essuman, 29, challenges for his first title against two-weight Midlands Area champion Keates, 27, who gets his fourth crack at the English crown in a third different division.
It’s a tough test for the unbeaten prospect against an experienced Area champion who has fallen slightly short of the level required for the English strap on three previous occasions at two different weight classes.
Known as ‘Engine’ for his remarkable stamina, the title tilt marks the anniversary of his best career win to date over Cameroonian Olympian Serge Ambomo (6-3) last October – the only winning fighter he has faced.
Managed by Jimmy Gill and trained by Barrington Brown, his forthcoming performance against the double Area champion will serve to determine his potential in the sport.
