What made you want to start boxing?
“Always loved the sport growing up and wanted to start boxing. I was doing Thai boxing from the age of about 10 then started boxing at the age of 14.”
Who was your boxing hero growing up and why?
“My hero growing up was Sugar Ray Leonard and Roy Jones Jr. I still watch loads of their old fights ‘til this day. They would always entertain the crowd and make the sport more entertaining.”
How old were you when you had your first fight and how did you do?
“My first amateur fight, I was about 15 and I fought against the Welsh number one at the time and stopped him in the second round by TKO.”
How well did you do in the amateurs?
“I had time out of boxing but then came back to the sport on the unlicensed scene also known as semi-pro.”
What made you decide to turn pro?
“I won the Area title, IBC British title and the IBU European title at this level and then believed I was ready to turn to the pro ranks.”
What team do you have around you?
“I have a great team around me, I have my older brother as my trainer and in my corner, I believe he knows how to get the best out of me.”
What sort of fighting style do you have?
“I am a southpaw, a lot of people don't like to spar or fight me because they find me very tricky. I like to counter fight but I also like to mix it up and come on the front foot also making my opponent have to think.”
What ambitions do you have for your pro career?
“In my pro career I am hoping to win titles and would love a British title. It’s something I have dreamed about since I was younger and I believe it's something I can achieve.”
When is your first fight and who will be there in support?
“My pro debut is May 23rd
and is in Central Hall, Liverpool where my crowd will be in force. My family, friends and fans who have followed me so far to where I am will be at the fight cheering me on.”
Any message for the fans?
“A message to the fans is that there's a new star in the pro ranks so get behind me and enjoy my journey to the top.”
