David Price backs out of his next fight due to take place in Belfast
Heavyweight David Price has withdrawn from the MTK Global show at Belfast’s Titanic Exhibition Centre on October 5.
The towering Liverpudlian had been due to face Sean Turner as part of an impressive bill headlined by Tyrone McCullagh’s WBO European title clash with Josh Kennedy.
His rumoured match-up with Sergey Kuzmin is now close to completion and could be awarded a slot on the forthcoming Wembley Stadium fight instead, featuring Anthony Joshua and challenger Alexander Povetkin in the headliner.
Former British and Commonwealth champion Price (22-5-KO18) was last in action at Wembley in March – wobbling former world champion Alexander Povetkin before being stopped in a show-stealing thriller. The Liverpudlian is still intent on challenging for world honours and a win over the unbeaten 31-year-old Russian, ranked in the top-20 with the WBC, could propel him upwards in the heavyweight rankings.
Further news of Price’s next assignment will be announced shortly.
