Commonwealth super-bantamweight champion Ashley Lane ordered to face Wasiru Mohammed
ASHLEY LANE (13-8-2) v WASIRU MOHAMMED (10-0) currently in negotiations.
This mandatory defence has now put out for negotiations between the two parties. If agreement is not possible within a reasonable period of time, Purse Bids will be called for on a date and at a time to be set and a further Bulletin circulated advising the Terms applicable to CBC Purse Bids.
This mandatory defence has been ordered to take place by 31ST MARCH 2019.
28-year-old Bristolian 'Flash' won the vacant Commonwealth strap with a unanimous decision over Michael Ramabeletsa in September 2017. He has racked up anther two points wins since but has yet to defend the title. Managed by Chris Sanigar, Lane has twice challenged for the English title unsuccessfuly but is currently riding a six-fight winning streak, unbeaten in two years.
Undefeated Ghanaian Mohammed has nine KOs from his 10 victories and is the current national super-bantamweight champion. In his last outing in October he won the WBO Africa super-bantamweight belt with a third-round KO over Issac Sackey who was unbeaten in 23 bouts. He has never fought outside of his home country.
