Andy Ruiz Jr says that Anthony Joshua's slimmer look still won't help him in their fight
Ahead of their impending December 7 Saudi Arabia world heavyweight title showdown, both champion Andy Ruiz Jr (33-1) and challenger to his former hoard Anthony Joshua (22-1) are sporting slimmer, faster frames in a bid to gain an advantage in their highly-anticipated rematch.
Mexican-American Ruiz has already slimmed down dramatically, with his trainer Manny Robles promising a leaner, faster fighter than the won that shocked the world on June 1st in Madison Square Garden when he halted the heavily-favoured unbeaten champion and 2012 Olympic gold medallist in the seventh round.
As the muscly, sculptured Londoner adopts the same strategy as his opponent by sporting a brand-new, leaner, lighter look, the reigning unified heavyweight world champion revealed his thoughts on the transformation.
Ruiz stated, "He looks a little slimmer, but I don't think that's going to any different.
"You can do whatever you want outsie of the ring, when it's fight time, like Mike Tyson said, 'Everyone has a plan until they get hit'.
"He even said at one of the press conferences, he said that he wasn't going to be boxing around. He kinda' told me his strategy, but whatever he does, we're gonna' do the best we can to do our thing."
The 33-year-old Californian then gave a glimpse into his own game plan for the return fight, "I think the main thing I've gotta do is just let my hands go and throw my combinations."
